Redesign Your Website Or Develop From Scratch? The Right Call

A website is the first point of contact between your company and your customers.

It represents your brand and its values, and it is critical to make the right impression. Therefore, it is essential to have a website that looks modern and is user-friendly. But when it comes to updating your website, you may find yourself at a crossroads: redesign what you have now or a develop a new fresh project?

First, let's define what we mean by redesigning your website and developing from scratch:

Redesigning your website means updating the design, layout, and functionality of your existing website. Developing from scratch means creating a new website with a completely new design, layout, and functionality.

Redesigning your website is a good option if your website is outdated, and you need to make some minor changes to make it more modern and user-friendly. For example, if your website looks cluttered and disorganized, a redesign can help you streamline the design and make it more appealing to visitors. If your website's functionality needs to be improved, such as slow loading times or a confusing navigation menu, a redesign can help improve these issues.

However, if your website has major problems that cannot be solved by a redesign, it may be time to develop a new website from scratch. Some signs that it may be time for a complete overhaul include:

1. Your website is not responsive

If your website is not optimized for mobile devices, you may be missing out on a significant portion of your target audience.

2. Your website's structure is prehistoric

If your website is built on an old platform, it may not be able to keep up with the latest web technologies.

3. Your website is not user-friendly

If your website's navigation is confusing, or if it is difficult to find the information visitors are looking for, they are likely to leave and go to a competitor's website.

4. Your website's design is outdated

If your website looks like it was built in the early 2000s, visitors may perceive your brand as outdated and not relevant.

5. Your website's functionality needs a major overhaul

If your website's functionality is limited, and you need to add new features or integrate with other systems, it may be time to start from scratch.

So, how do you decide whether to redesign your website or start from scratch?

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

What are my business goals?

What are my website's current limitations?

What is my budget?

What is my timeline?

Your website should align with your business goals. If you are trying to increase sales, a redesign may not be enough, and you may need to start from scratch to build a website that can support your business goals.

If your website has significant limitations that cannot be solved with a redesign, it may be time to start from scratch. Developing a new website from scratch can be expensive, so you need to consider your budget before making a decision.

However if you need a new website quickly and it has a short budget, a redesign may be the best option since it typically takes less time and you can also use a great template.

Overall your call will depend on your business goals, budget, timeline, and the limitations of your current website. Whatever you decide, make sure your website aligns with your plans and brand.
